Catchment Area
The current total residential population of the catchment area
has been statistically calculated during the study to be 31,500.
Of this 10,000 live in Shannon town, 12,500 work in Shannon town and
9,000 are within a 20 minute drive. Of this 10,900 are weekly visitors
and visit every week at an average frequency of
2.5 visits per week. The average spend by respondents to
the survey said the last time they did the main supermarket shopping for
their household was �70. In total the target population has been
calculated to spend �106.9 million annually in retail and grocery
goods. Currently Shannon shoppers spend an estimated total of
�66.2 million annually on grocery and retails goods, of which 76%
is spent outside the Shannon Town center. This represents a
leakage of some �50.02 million.

Travel - Time The pie chart below illustrates the drive-time
of how long it takes respondents to drive to Shannon Town Centre. Interestingly, Shannon Town center has a significant number of
pedestrian shoppers with 26% of shoppers walking to shop.
