Skycourt’s Arts for Schools Moo Masterpieces
Following a restful summer break, Skycourt Shannon Town invited local primary schools to join their ‘Arts for Schools’ competition to design and decorate their very own school pet – a life-size baby calf.
With 6 local schools becoming involved each school received a plain fibreglass calf, and for two weeks set about planning, designing and decorating their Moo Masterpiece. With such an exciting and unusual activity, schools had either a single class, multiple or the whole school taking part to create their calf with unique character.
During the design, schools looked at their own identity and surrounding environments for inspiration. Whilst one school took this opportunity to celebrate their 50th anniversary, others highlighted the localisation of Shannon Airport or activities at their school. Cross-curricular activities even saw the calves being used for History, Geography and English lessons!
With the calves finished and delivered to Skycourt Shannon Town, they are now on display for all shoppers and visitors to enjoy. This project has brought a fantastic level of excitement working with the local schools on such a unique masterpiece, showcasing the artistic talents of the local children. Additionally the on mall display has added amazing fun and atmosphere to the centre, which we know shoppers will love as they visit over the coming weeks.
As part of the project one lucky school will receive a generous €500 gift voucher for their Art Department. The competition encourages shoppers to come on mall, take a photo of their favourite masterpiece and post it to the centre’s Facebook page. The school with the most votes will receive the fantastic prize from SkyCourt Shannon Town.
